Do You Want LASEK But Also Have Cataracts?

I have been told that I cannot have laser vision correction if I have cataracts. Is this true?

Although it is entirely possible to perform laser vision correction with cataracts present, it is often not the best option. Here at The Ophthalmic Center, in East Setauket, Long Island New York our surgeons are performing REFRACTIVE CATARACT SURGERY. If you have cataracts (even mild ones) and would like to eliminate your dependence on glasses for distance AND near, it can be done.

With advances in today’s technology there are new lens implants which are either multi-focal or accommodating intra-ocular lenses (IOLs). Are My Eyes Healthy?

A common misconception is that the need for glasses means that you have “bad eyes”. Conversely, if you don’t need glasses, one would think that they have good eye health. Unfortunately the need for glasses (distance or near) or contacts is not indicative of good eye health. There are many conditions that affect your eyes that glasses or contacts cannot fix. Just because you don’t need glasses doesn’t mean that the health of your eyes is safe. At The Ophthalmic Center in East Setauket, Long Island, New York we strongly suggest a yearly eye exam, including a dilation, at minimum.

Summer is around the corner and the sun is shining. There’s not better time to get rid of those glasses you’ve been wearing so that you can sport your new fancy sunglasses.
